Thundering over Louisville

This last Saturday we drove the 2 hours to Louisville Kentucky so Ryan could help clean the temple and we could see the fireworks that are supposedly the best in the world. And after having seen them I would say that's a resounding YES! It was so fun! Lydi did so good in the car drive down and back compared to what I thought it was going to be like.

It was so cold, 40 degrees, so needless to say she was bundled to the max. She either can sleep through the loudest fireworks that lasted from 9:30 to 10:30 or the blankets muffled the noise for her.

I was also nervous to go on the trip because I didn't know I was going to attempt to feed her in public. Our car was parked a couple blocks away so I couldn't camp in it and feed her. I am happy to report that it went smoothly. It helped that 2 other women, Tiffany & Ashley, who I was with were breast feeding too. I honestly never thought I'd be one to feed in public and I'm still not going to unless it is absolutely necessary. But it was liberating to know that I can go anywhere and still live life while breast feeding.

This picture is the only one that really showed up. But just imagine two bridges over a river that they show the most gorgeous fireworks. It started the way most shows end, and the finale literally rattled your insides.

Loud Lydi

Ok so I always knew that I have a set of lungs on me. Everyone I know says they can hear my laugh a mile away. Now my little Lydi has those same lungs. She will be so content and within a second she will scream bloody murder and once I pick her up she stops immediately. Lol, I guess she can be spoiled since she's only 5 weeks old.

I set her down for a second to take this picture and she got so mad at me.

Ryan took this one of me with her on my lap, but my shirt wasn't pulled down all the way so imagine her on my lap peaceful and calm.

Milestones: She rolled over at 3 1/2 weeks from belly to back and has done it 6 times since

Smiled a real smile 5 weeks :) She did it 2 other times this morning and I got it on video but I can't figure out how to download the video. Say tune for the video

Her 2nd Sunday at church she slept all 3 hours :) YAY!

Thanks mom for visiting!

So I was lucky enough to have my mom come visit for 2 weeks with Lydia, Ryan, and I. During this time Ryan had his birthday which was so fun! We grilled hamburgers, made homemade french fries, ate ice-cream pie, and played the wii. My mom got so sore from playing that the next day she couldn't pass me a burp cloth without a great deal of effort :)

We also had conference which was so fun! I have to admit that I fell asleep Saturday afternoon session because I was all cuddled up with Lydia. That is definitely one of my favorite parts of being a mom!

She's had a little bit of colic for only 2 days. I went off most dairy products and it seems to have helped. I must say it's easy to go off something when you see your little one crying because of something you ate?! :( I am also wondering if chocolate is a culprit to colic? She is such a great baby and so easy going I want to make sure I don't hurt her little tummy. I guess this mom thing is a learning curve and eventually I'll come to understand what sets well with little Liddy. But when she's happy and calm, boy oh boy, she's an easy baby. Last night I got up once to feed her. WOW! I know that it always won't be like that, but those nights are awesome!

Lydia Ann Hirschi

She came! March 15, 2012 at 2 AM in the morning I shot out of bed because my water was breaking. I was so excited! I was sick of counting the minutes of my contractions and thinking, "Is this it? Should I go in?" From 2:30-7 I had only dilated from a 3 to a 4 1/2. So they decided to give me pitocin to speed up the process. My contractions were so close together I had a hard time recuperating after each. That's when I asked for an epidural. The anesthesiologist was in a C-Section so they gave me Newbain while I was waiting. Wow, I love that stuff! I was so drowsy and didn't feel my contractions any more :) Then the anesthesiologist gave me an epidural and I slept the whole time while my body dilated to a 10. Before I knew it my body started pushing on its own. They had me start pushing and within 45 minutes she was here :) What a surreal experience! I came home to a welcome sign on my door from my neighbor, SO NICE!

She came 6:18 PM March 15, 2012
7 pounds 7 ounces 19.5 inches

I love being a mom! She sleeps so well and eats so well :) What a lucky mom I am. I was able to have my mom stay with me and it's been so fun. The pain medication they sent me home with gave me an allergic reaction so I went to the doctor and they got me steroids. Nursing has gone well but I still don't feel confident going out for long periods of time. I have gone off dairy to avoid the colic.
