Things I want to Remember

Sunday night the Kelley's brought over Lydia's crib. They are a dental family who just graduated and are moving. They were so kind to give us all there baby stuff! The crib is so big compared to her basinet. Little things, like a big crib, that show she's growing up make me sord of sad in a way. The things she does now that I want to remember...

1. Smile every time she see's me

2. Snuggle up against me when she's tired

3. Reaches up to hold my hair and makes sure yep it's mom

4. Talks to me after bath time

5. She tries to eat the bubbles when I'm bathing her

6. When she gets done eating she lays over my lap and has to stretch with her head hanging off my lap for a good couple of minutes. It makes me smile inside every time :)

7. The lint under her chin and on her hands. I have to clean them out every morning when I'm bathing her.

8. She likes to go out early with me in the mornings and go running. Before she falls asleep she looks at the sky and tree's like they are the most beautiful creation.

9. When she's tired she rubs her hands over her eyes

10. She likes her eyes covered when she sleeps

11. Sadly her night time feedings are coming to a close (your thinking, "Oh that's not sad!") but the look on her face is always priceless when she see's my bed head. I can't help but chuckle! She also will only stay awake to eat if I blow on her face. Her face seems to say, "Thanks mom, you have horrible morning breath!"

12. No mother likes to hear their baby cry. I think it's adorable though to see her lower lip stick out and quiver

The joys truly are endless!

Indy 500 parade

So Saturday we went to the Indy 500 Parade and it's the first real big parade I've ever been too and Lydia's first parade ever. It was so funny because it was 100 degrees outside with about 70% humidity. We were all dripping with sweat. We really lucked out because Ryan was helping a family in our ward roof that morning and there neighbors had 2 extra tickets to the parade. So we were able to go and got VIP seating with lunch and everything. Wow, we are pretty lucky!

The scale lies!

Fact: Majority of people avoid the scale like the plaque.

Fact: The scale (most) doesn’t say your body percentage of fat and muscle.

Good news, the scale lies! I have always enjoyed watching the biggest looser because it’s motivating that people can take control of their lives after letting go. So since it aired on Tuesdays I decided that would be my weigh in day after Lydia came. But I must say it lies! Ha ha, This is when most of you are thinking, “Danielle, get a grip it doesn’t lie. You just don’t want to fess up to what it says.” Actually I’m totally comfortable with what it says but for the past 5 Tuesdays I have only moved 3 rocks. . .

Ok real quick... What are Rocks? :) My motivation to keep going. I saw this on pinterest of course. Pinterest is where all my creative ideas come from :) So I have a quart jar with Pounds to Loose and Pounds Lost. I move the rocks from Pounds to Loose to Pounds Lost every Tuesday when I weigh in.

So back to the fact that I’ve only moved 3 in the past 5 weeks. This is why the scale lies. I have gained so much muscle and lost a lot more fat. How I can tell? My pants are too big. Ok, so these are not my small jeans but my bigger jeans so don’t think I’ve moved all my rocks yet. But I’ve decided the real judge should be how I feel and a measuring tape. :) Can’t forget the measuring tape because Yes I can be fat and happy, HA HA.

Loosing the baby weight for me was a whole lot easier than I thought, now comes the hard part the extra 10 I had gained before that. But I know these 10 pounds might take awhile but hey what’s the rush? I just need to keep trying :)

Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming (LOVE DORI OFF OF FINDING NEMO)

Please share your success stories or goals to keep me motivated :)

Photo Shoot

I took a ton of pictures of Lydia while she was in a smiley mood :)

Updates

The picnic table I got for Ryan for fathers day from a yard sale for $15.

The pot I made for the flowers out front, looks like a 3 yr old did it but I am still happy I got to play with paint. Painting is my new favorite thing to do!

Luck with running gear!

For mothers day Ryan found these puma shoes that were originally $80 that were $15 so I got them for mothers day and I hadn't used them until this morning and Wow I felt so fast. Lol, which was probably still a 13 minute mile. But my asics were shot so I felt like I was running on a cloud. The jogger stroller I've been using for a month and love it! I know the Lord is very aware of me. One night it was on my mind how much I'd love one but couldn't afford it. That night when I prayed I did't dare ask for a jogging stroller because Hello! Not of eternal value! But that weekend at church the youth were doing an auction to raise money for camp and someone brought a jogger stroller that I ended up getting for $16. What a great deal! The Lord heard my unprayed prayer :)

Trouble with Acne?!?

I never had a problem with acne until I turned 21. Ya I thought it was puberty that would onset acne for me. Nope, lucky me I was in the dating game in college when this occurred. I never really had a zit before this and didn't understand what I was supposed to do. It wasn't until I went to a midwife who also had PCOS that knew what to tell me. Proactive also did not work for me but made it worse! I was informed that those who are sensitive to benzoyl peroxide should try salycic acid. I went with Obagi face wash shown below. It only works well if your not killing it with heavy makeup. Maybelline's powder shown below works great. For best results with the face wash use it in the shower after you've got it all steamy and your pours are open, rub for a good 30 seconds or more. Need to just zap one zit... try this clearasil cream that has salycic acid.

Nap Time

It's interesting how since Lydia came I've only been able to take 2 real naps. I don't know why I can't nap but I just sit and think of all the things I could be getting done with that precious time. Ok, so she takes A LOT of naps for 2 hour increments of time. So honestly I should just nap but I can't shut my brain off. I sometimes wish you had a switch to turn your brain off. However, when it comes to night time once my head hits the pillow I'm out cold. I guess Ryan will get into bed after I do and supposedly he'll have a full on conversation with me and I don't remember a thing. Good thing I'm no longer held accountable for what he tells me because now he knows I'm not really awake. He used to ask me to do him a favor and then the next day he would say, "Were you able to get that done?" HA HA I would look at him like, "What in the world are you talking about?" He used to think I had selective hearing but now he knows I talk when I'm asleep.

I have a new obsession with painting. So it started with spray painting the shelves to hang up a and since then I've done a pot and I'm approaching a picnic table and chairs. However, it has to be spray paint otherwise it doesn't turn out even :) The flower pot I did I used real paint for the white polka dotes on a black background and it looks like a 3 year old did it. :) Well you don't have to be good at hobbies, right ?

She's awake...

Found at Home Hair Dye for Blonds

Just wanted to say really fast a week ago I finally gave in and bought hair dye from the store. Nice n easy #99. I must say I was very pleased with the result, especially since it was $12 :) I can afford that. Ryan cuts my hair and I color... We are a good team :)

Mothers Day Gifts

Lydia and I on mothers day before church
Ryan and Lydia before church
She went through 3 outfits from blow out diapers before we got to church.. This was #2

I found my new favorite cake... White cake with strawberry jello. Haven't had it with whip cream and strawberries but I'm guessing it beats any cake! We fed the missionaries today that's why more than half of the cake is gone. Don't worry Ryan and I didn't eat that much cake after dinner. Ha ha. However I'm sure we could of it was yummy

Ryan cleaned up our garden. He didn't want to have to weed again so he put this wood down to stop the weeds from coming up.

This is our strawberries on top and the potatoes down below.

Corn we planted Saturday.. Stay tune on those

Ryan is sitting in a launch chair I found on the side of our dumpster. People in our complex put items they no longer want that other people can take on the side. Lucky me who found 2 of them. :)

My mom gave me some money along with some other things for mothers day and I bought stickers to put in my house. Sticker #1 in living room

Sticker #2 in laundry room

Lydia's room stickers... Stay tune on her room I'm in the middle of getting it decorated. Still have to put up the blinds and we are getting her crib at the beginning of June from our neighbor who is moving. Also the clock I painted and decorated. I had lots of fun with this one. Under the clock I've got shelves I'm still going to paint for book shelves.

Last the bathroom. The curtain is white with green vines at the bottom so I decided to put a tree. On the other side of the bathroom I have a shelf I'm going to hang that has hooks to put little Lydia's towels on. I have to say I loved Super K Mart today :) Thanks mom for the $20

So excited for Mothers Day :)

Ok, so I have a whole appreciation for mothers day coming up now that I'm a mom. I must say I am so grateful for my mom going through everything to raise five of us kids :) WOW! Not just one or two but five.

I went to Panarea Bread today with Tiffany, a friend of mine, and this woman snapped at her and told her to stop her little boy from rocking the car seat which had her 6 month old little girl inside. Why did she say this? Supposedly she was nervous the car seat was going to tip over. Why some people always have to vocalize they're opinion I will never know. But the first thing that popped into my head was, "This is someones mom!" That's so sad. I am so grateful that my mom is who she is. Tiffany and I just laughed about it later.

My aunt Phillis sent me the cutest little onesie that has Lydia Ann Embroidered on the front of it with some little flowers sown on it. You can't see it in the picture because her little hands are over it. But cute nonetheless :)

Days you don't want to work

Ok so I for some reason have one of these days hmmm probably every week or so where I just don't want to do what I should be doing. I am doing the laundry today and the washing machine broke down and it made me think, "Well guess I don't have to work today." Lydia is napping and I just look at my list of chores and thought maybe next nap :) Since that will be in 2 hours. But I decided days like this I enjoy because I do things that I want to do rather than need to do. For example I've been really really wanting to decorate Lydia's room finally and I've been looking online for a good deal for vinyl lettering for her name above her crib. I also have day dreamed about making her curtains for that room but hopefully July I can turn that day dream into a real project.

I have also been realizing that life is about those small things! Ryan is such a great gardener and I am following his lead and hopefully will be a gardener too. This morning when I picked my strawberry fresh from our garden to eat in my shake I had the most excited feeling come over me. I have daydreamed of eating straight out of a garden that's mine and here I am doing it. I love it! Yesterday I ate our first pea. YUMMY! I remember as a kid jumping on the Mathisons tramp or maybe it belonged to the Hurgets? Anyways, us rebel kids would pick the Hurgets peas and eat them all afternoon. Not very nice of us but I enjoyed it so much it inspired me to have a garden when I get older. :) We have potatoes too that we planted from potatoes that had started going bad. I am so excited to eat them in a couple months :)

Life is so fun! Ok, now I probably should get serious and go back to cleaning (start I mean) but I must say blogging is another love of mine :) Weirdly enough I feel productive like I'm scrap-booking.

Family Fun

I must say that I love having our little family. It just feels so right. At breakfast this morning it was so funny because Ryan and I were having so much fun just watching Lydia. She does the funniest little game where she will pout out her lower lip to Ryan and then the next second smile so big with her tongue sticking out. We laughed so hard because she did this about 4 times. I know that this is the smallest thing but to Ryan and I it was such a party.

Our little family

Ryan is the funniest husband ever. He always makes me laugh. I love this picture. I just have to share this story. About 3 nights ago Ryan and I decide to stay up late and have a fun nacho party. We had jalapenos that we decided to put on our nachos. We tried to see who would eat them without making a funny face. After washing my face to get ready for bed I went to open my eyes when I felt this extreme burning. It felt like my eyeballs were burning out of my socket. Needless to say I forgot to wash my hands before I rubbed soap on my face and got jalapeno juice in my eyes. It took me a good 10 minutes before I could open my eyes. Ryan died laughing and just decided to stand there and pester me since I couldn't open my eyes to get him back. It was a nacho night to remember.

I can't believe how strong her neck is. She did this the day she was born.

She gets this look a lot. Very serious

Ryan is so cute with her! She will grow up to be a daddy's girl ( and mama's too of course )

Ryan's model pose, LOL. Love the serious look

Recipe for a happy baby!

Ok so I've been told by numerous people that Baby Wise is the book you need to read if you want your kids to eat well and sleep through the night, pretty much if you want a happy baby. We are trying it out. Day 2: and I must say it's been working pretty darn well! I just wanted to post this so other moms can share in this knowledge!

Best sandwhich bread recipe and more

I love when she snuggles, so does dad!

I must say it was pretty tricky cutting Ryan's hair this month. Lydi woke up from her nap earlier than I planned but I think it turned out swell except the big chunk I took out by his ear, lol :) Good thing he loves me and didn't mind.

2 things: found the binky she'll take.. Yay! And I'm so glad my mom sent her little hat so when we go on walks she stays away from the sun. I am dying how humid it's been these last few days, reminds me of my mission!

Since I went crazy at sams club I am going to have to be more domestic by making our bread so we stay within our budget for groceries. I must say this is the best sandwich bread I've found. Yummy. http://www.food.com/recipe/sabrinas-sandwich-bread-100594

She is 7 weeks old :) Yay! She started smiling at 5 weeks, I have yet to get it on camera. Don't worry I got it on video. Copy and paste this link to see
